Professor T.V.Eachara Varier passed away a few days back after an epic struggle to bring to justice the the people responsible for torturing and killing his son Rajan during the black days of the emergency. Prof. Varier had written a poignant book on his unsuccesful fight for justice (available online from the Asian Human Rights Commission web site):
