Expensive experimental apparatus can be made available to a wider audience through the web - I have heard of a few foreign universities and research centres doing this. Maybe, it’s for the first time that somebody is doing this in India - check out what Ajith has done at:

Even though Phoenix is not a costly device, Ajith can hook up some pretty sophisticated stuff (a precisely machined pendulm was one example he had given) and let us play with them! I am sure he has plans to do some really cool work and make it accessible to all of us!

I was at CMC Vellore for the past 20 odd days - reason for the blog not being updated!
